Manatees

For a study on Manatees in Colombia we have produced GPS Iridium tags. The GPS Iridium transmitter with battery and antennas was placed in a waterproof and floating otterbox. This was fitted with a safe construction to the base of the tail as can be seen on the photo. For properly floating behind the animal, its buoyancy needed to be matched with fresh and salt water.
